The municipalityof Sittard-Geleen is continuously working on the major road maintenance programme. Many roads in our city were constructed in the period of 1950-1970.

Because they have been used for a long time now, many roads are worn out. A good condition is important for safe and pleasant use of the roads. Therefore, roads or sections of roads sometimes need to be renewed. Since 2020, the municipality has been working on more roads at the same time than in previous years. Meanwhile, 170 roads have been renovated. As from 2024, further major and minor maintenance roadworks have been planned.

Sometimes intersections or T-junctions are raised or speed bumps are installed on the road to reduce traffic speed. This contributes to safer traffic. Maintenance is performed annually according to a strict schedule, to spread the roadworks. The municipality tries to take other projects in the municipality into account as much as possible.
