On Sunday 24 and Monday 25 May 2026 (Pentecost), the banks of the Meuse river will once again transform into a borderless art gallery.
The Interlimburg Art Cycling Days (in Dutch: Kunstfietsdagen) return with a more compact yet equally inspiring 35-kilometre route, guiding cyclists past 14 unique art locations in the Belgian-Dutch border region.
Following the success of previous years, the organisation has chosen a smooth and accessible edition for 2026. The route has been shortened to a manageable 35 kilometres, ideal for recreational cyclists who want to take their time enjoying the art and the stories behind the artists. With 14 carefully selected locations, the quality and diversity of the event remain guaranteed.
Borderless creativity
The charm of the event lies in its unexpected encounters. Visitors stop at historic chapels, characteristic Limburg farmhouses, and atmospheric private gardens. There, local, regional, and international artists present a wide variety of disciplines, including visual arts: paintings, glass art, ceramics, mixed media, iron art, and sculptures.
In Belgium, the route passes through hidden gems in Aldeneik, Stokkem, Dilsen, and Rotem. In The Netherlands, the atmospheric settings of Roosteren, Grevenbicht, Obbicht, and Berg aan de Maas provide the stops along this artistic journey.
The route: compact and complete
The 35-kilometre loop connects the two Limburg regions via the natural border of the Meuse. Participants can cross the river via the bridge in Maaseik or take the free ferry service for cyclists in Berg aan de Maas. The entire route is clearly marked with red numbered arrows.
Tip: You can start at any location you wish, for example at Obbicht Castle. A free route leaflet is available at every stop.
