On Tuesday, May 13, the municipalities of Beek, Stein, and Sittard-Geleen signed a cooperation agreement for the launch of “Goede Morgen” (Good Morning): a sustainability platform of the Western Mining Region.
With this official start, the three municipalities have taken an important step in their joint mission for a healthy, fair, and future-proof region.
“Goede Morgen” is the place where knowledge, inspiration, and collaboration around themes such as energy saving, sustainable food, and careful use of materials come together. It targets a broad group of residents, local businesses, and educational institutions. You can get to know “Goede Morgen” in three ways:
Physical meeting place: “Kom naar Goede Morgen' in the Galfetti building on the Market in Geleen (open from July 3) with, among other things, a repair café, energy advice, exhibitions, and educational activities.
Travelling bus: “Goede Morgen komt naar je toe” (from September) for advice and activities in neighbourhoods and schools. This is a mobile version of the physical meeting place.
Website: vooreengoedemorgen.nl for information and inspiration.
The name “Goede Morgen” has been carefully chosen: it is both a friendly greeting and a promise for a future-proof region. "We want to ensure that everyone can participate," says Ivo Tillie (member of the Sittard-Geleen Municipal Chief Executive for sustainability), also on behalf of the municipalities of Beek and Stein. "Whether you have a question or start a good initiative yourself: “Goede Morgen” connects residents, businesses, and local partners to come up with smart and fair solutions together and put them into practice. By sharing knowledge, making responsible choices easier, and inspiring each other, we ensure that everyone can participate. Now and in the future."
Join free activities, workshops, sustainable tastings, and demonstrations during the festive opening on July 5 and 6 in the Galfetti building, Markt 114 A in Geleen.
