Starting on Monday, April 14, the municipality will replace the traffic lights at the Bergerweg-Brugstraat-Mgr. Vranckenstraat intersection in Sittard.
The roadworks are expected to be completed by Friday, May 2. The above-mentioned dates always depend on the weather conditions and unforeseen situations. Work will be carried out from Monday to Friday, from approximately 07:00 to 19:00. During the week of April 14, work will be done at night to install detection loops in the road.
At the intersection, underground cables, lamps, lamp covers, push buttons, and the control unit with software will be replaced. New detection loops will be installed. These loops detect the presence of cars or cyclists. The control unit on the bicycle lane to the Mgr. Buckxstraat will be moved. This is more convenient for cyclists as the unit is currently situated in the middle of the bicycle lane.
Homes and businesses will always be accessible during the work. Bergerweg and Brugstraat will remain open to traffic. However, only one lane per direction will be open. The Mgr. Vranckenstraat will be closed from the Brugstraat. Traffic for this street will be diverted with yellow detour signs. Traffic controllers will be deployed during morning and evening rush hours. The traffic lights will not work during the work. Efforts will be made to minimize inconvenience, but there will always be some disruption during the roadworks.
