The Kempenweg in Obbicht will get a new design that is safer for traffic. The municipality is working on safe routes to schools and better cycling connections.

What measures are being taken?

The speed limit on Kempenweg will be reduced from 60 kilometres to 30 kilometres per hour. The road will be narrower, speed bumps will be installed, and in some places the road will be raised with plateaus.

Planning

Construction will start on Monday, April 28, and will be carried out in two phases:

  • Phase 1 - from April 28 to June 6: Kempenweg from Dukkelaarsweg to the construction road for the new school and sports site (Unilocatie).
  • Phase 2 - from June 10 to July 18: Kempenweg from the construction road for the new school and sports site (Unilocatie) to the intersection Houtstraat-Frankenstraat.

In the second half of July, everything will be ready so that children and parents can safely reach the new primary school/child centre.

Accessibility

During construction, road sections will be closed to traffic.
