Spectaculo 2026: From local talent to international (street) theatre acts

GELEEN – From Friday, June 26 through Sunday, June 28, the centre of Geleen will once again be dedicated to the Spectaculo Cultural Festival.

During this fourth edition, visitors can enjoy a diverse programme featuring music, (street) theatre, performances, and unique encounters.

For three days, the Market Square will serve as the vibrant heart of the festival. On Friday evening, June 26, the official opening will take place there. The Limburg-based company Opera Compact and ’t Magisch Theatertje (The Little Magic Theater) will present Vervlogen, a production created especially for Spectaculo and inspired by Geleen’s past, present, and future.

21:00 – 22:00 – The Diamond Baritones
22:00 – 22:50 – Opera Compact & ’t Magisch Theatertje – Vervlogen (Bygone times)
22:50 – 23:00 – DOES x Submedia x PiQxels – projection on the Old Town Hall
23:00 – 00:00 – Scarlet Rose Band (in the Spiegel Tent, a nostalgic, circular travelling pavilion decorated with mirrors and stained glass)

Throughout the weekend, the atmospheric Spiegel Tent on the Market Square will host a variety of performances. In addition, activities will take place at several locations in and around the town centre, including the Galfetti Building, Theater Karroessel, and St. Augustine’s Church.

On Saturday and Sunday, international street theatre will take centre stage. The French company Compagnie La Meute will present their act 78 TOURS, providing a spectacular closing performance on the Market Square on both evenings. Visitors can also enjoy street theatre acts from countries including Argentina, France, and Belgium.

Alongside international and professional artists, Spectaculo provides ample opportunities for local talent. Amateur artists from Sittard-Geleen, participants in talent development programmes, and promising theatre makers from both The Netherlands and abroad will have the chance to showcase their work to the public.

With a varied programme for all ages, Spectaculo once again promises to be an inspiring and unifying cultural weekend.
