UPDATE: Spectaculo 2026 is cancelled

GELEEN - It is with a heavy heart that the organization must announce that Cultuurfestival Spectaculo 2026 will not take place this weekend. Consequently, the Midsummer Meeting this evening will also not go ahead.

After intensive consultation with the municipality and the relevant security services, they have decided to cancel the festival. A Code Red alert is now officially in effect due to the expected extreme heat, and they have been strongly advised not to proceed with the festival.

Over the past few days, they have pulled out all the stops to ensure Spectaculo could proceed safely. We have explored various scenarios, adjusted the program, and prepared extensive precautionary measures. Ultimately, they have concluded that they cannot sufficiently guarantee the safety of visitors, artists, volunteers, and staff.

This is a decision that was not taken lightly. They realize that this is a great disappointment for many. It is for the organization as well.

They would like to sincerely thank all artists, partners, sponsors, volunteers, and visitors for their involvement, flexibility, and understanding. They hope to welcome everyone back in 2027 during a new edition of Cultuurfestival Spectaculo. This edition will take place on June 25 / 26 / 27, 2027.
