Lederhosen and Dirndls ready for the Oktoberfest?
Sittard – The 20th edition of the Oktoberfest Sittard will take place from Friday, October 10th to Wednesday, October 15th in the historic city centre of Sittard.
The Oktoberfest Sittard is one of the largest autumn festivals in Southern Limburg. You’ll find several pavilions (e.g. Brand Weizen, Brand Brauhaus, and Boels Rental), beer gardens, a real Oktoberfest fair, and every year a new Miss Oktoberfest is elected.
The city centre of Sittard is also decorated in Oktoberfest style. Many people are dressed in beautiful traditional costumes: classic Lederhosen and Dirndls. The whole city centre, including bars and restaurants, joins the celebration!
Oktoberfest fair
Every day during the Oktoberfest, you can visit the free fair, located on the central festival site near Ligne. There are all kinds of attractions for young and old - more than 50 in total! You’ll also find various food stalls on the site.
Partying with various artists
Many bands and artists will come to Sittard to perform at different venues. For some of the shows you will need a ticket, and sometimes entry is free. Check here for the many artists who are coming; click on the artist to see where he, she, or they are performing. The entire programme can be viewed here – just choose your day or location, and you’ll automatically see whether or not you’ll need a ticket. Parking facilities
The Oktoberfest is accessible by public transport, by car and bicycle. Around the festival, you can park your car for a fee at various locations. The nearest parking garages are the Odaparking and Ligneparking. Please note that there are major roadworks in the centre of Sittard. Therefore, follow the blue signs that will lead you to the larger carparks and garages: Odaparking, Tempelplein, Hub Dassenplein, and Steenweg.
Coming by bike? There are bicycle parking facilities at Paardestraat, Tempelplein, and Ligne. At certain times, there will also be supervision at the bicycle parking facilities at Paardestraat and Tempelplein.
Staying sober is rewarded
Are you coming to Oktoberfest by car? And do you plan not to drink alcohol and/or take drugs? Then you’ll receive a nice gift if you stay sober. Here’s how it works:
- Upon arrival, ask for a wristband for a voluntary alcohol and drug test.
- Take the voluntary test when you’re ready to go home.
- If you pass the test, you’ll receive a nice present!
- If the test shows a high alcohol and/or drug level, the organisation and the Province of Limburg will gladly help you get home safely. Because it’s important that everyone arrives home safely!
