New festive lighting in the city centre of Sittard
This autumn, Sittard’s city centre will get fresh festive looks: the Christmas lights will be renewed!
Together with Centrummanagement Sittard and local entrepreneurs, a sustainable and atmospheric approach has been chosen to create an even better magical touch to Sittard’s Christmas Streets.
Festive banners and ornaments
The outdated light tubes will partly make way for festive banners and new ornaments that brighten up the atmosphere in the streets. The lighting around Den Tempel shopping centre and the garlands will also receive a fresh upgrade. Additionally, tree-friendly LED lighting will be applied to the trees in the city centre, except for the Tempelplein where reconstruction work is currently taking place.
Yvonne Salvino, member of the Municipality’s Chief Executive: "With these adaptations, we are giving the centre of Sittard a heartwarming, inviting appearance during the festive months. The new lighting contributes to the winter coziness and enhances the Christmas atmosphere in our city centre. We have consciously chosen sustainable materials and an approach that respects the wishes of our entrepreneurs and the vibrant character of the centre."
Large Christmas tree
As in previous years, the large Christmas tree on the Market square will also be decorated with light strings. Additionally, the defective lamps in the trees on the square will be replaced, as a result of which the square will shine fully again during the festive season.
The new festive lighting will be installed in October. And in November, the lights will be switched on to illuminate the city.
