Sittard is getting ready for a tradition of major proportions! On Easter Saturday, 4 April 2026, the 61st edition of the Kennedy March Sittard will take place.

The ultimate challenge for walkers who want to push their limits: 80 kilometres in one day through the beautiful Limburg countryside. But there’s more: those who prefer a shorter distance can take part in the Swentibold March (40 km) or the Mini March (10 km). There’s a suitable challenge for every walker!

The atmospheric Market Square in the historic city centre of Sittard forms the beating heart of this walking classic.

Kennedy March: start at 05:00

A tradition since 1963

What started with ten young people from the Bisschoppelijk College (former secondary school in Sittard), inspired by President Kennedy, has grown into an event that attracts thousands of walkers annually. The Kennedy March Sittard is the oldest Kennedy March in The Netherlands and takes you through the beautiful landscapes of both Dutch and Belgian Limburg.

The route runs mainly along flat, paved roads, with the exception of a few historic town centres. Along the way there are refreshment points, first aid posts, massages, and a fantastic atmosphere. Anyone who completes the walk within the set time receives a unique memento.

Something for everyone

Kennedy March (80 km) – For the true endurance walkers
Swentibold March (40 km) – The same atmosphere, but half the distance
Mini March (10 km) – Sociable and accessible

The Kennedy March Sittard (80 km) has two categories: a recreational class and a competitive class.
