A2 Echt Exit (45); on-ramp (45b) towards Maastricht temporarily closed

Rijkswaterstaat will be carrying out further works on the A2 motorway near Echt over the coming weeks. For this reason, the Echt (45b) on-ramp towards Maastricht will be temporarily closed for two weekends and four intervening nights in November. Traffic will be diverted via the St. Joost exit.

During the closures, Rijkswaterstaat will undertake earthworks related to the installation of a phasing screen and cable and pipeline works. Additionally, Japanese knotweed, an invasive plant species that spreads rapidly and can cause damage to infrastructure, will be removed at this location.

Closure and diversion routes

The Echt (45b) exit will be closed for 2 weekends and 4 nights:

Weekend from Friday, 31 October, 21:00 until Monday, 3 November, 05:00
Nights from Monday, 3 to Friday, 7 November: each night from 21:00 to 05:00
Weekend from Friday, 7 November, 21:00 until Monday, 10 November, 05:00

Diversion and additional travel time

Traffic that would normally use the Echt on-ramp towards Maastricht to access the A2 motorway will be diverted via the Echt (45d) on-ramp towards Eindhoven to the St. Joost exit (44), where drivers can turn around and then take the A2 towards Maastricht. The additional travel time is approximately 10 minutes.

Widening of the A2 Het Vonderen – Kerensheide

These works are part of the preparations for the widening of the A2 between the Het Vonderen and Kerensheide junctions. With the expansion of the motorway to 2 x 3 lanes, Rijkswaterstaat aims to improve traffic flow and road safety in Southern Limburg.
