The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee conducted an investigation last weekend into reports of drones at the NATO command centre in Brunssum and at Maastricht Aachen Airport.
A spokesperson confirmed reports published by the regional newspaper, Dagblad De Limburger.
Nothing found
The spokesperson stated that searches were carried out over the weekend, but nothing was found.
The Limburg police force also received reports regarding drones flying over Southern Limburg. The police did not record the exact number of drones involved. According to the police spokesperson, such reports often concern drones operated by hobbyists. She added that there is no reason for panic, but the police remain vigilant.
According to Dagblad De Limburger, drones were also spotted near the Chemelot industrial site in Geleen and the NATO airbase in Geilenkirchen, just across the German border.
